Get a more natural voice
The voice list is sorted by quality — anything tagged HQ uses neural or cloud synthesis and sounds far less robotic than the bundled compact voices. On macOS, open System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → System Voice → Manage Voices and download a Premium or Enhanced voice (Ava, Evan, Allison) for the best result.
